All registered users of the 4th edition of the African Studies Companion will be notified of the online expiry date at least three months prior to publication of the 5th edition of the African Studies Companion.
Access methods and server availability
Access to the online version of the 4th edition of the African Studies Companion is either by user ID/password and IP address; or via IP address recognition for libraries requiring their own authentication methods. Applicable IP ranges can be indicated when registering for online access, in a field provided on the registration form.
Access is permitted at any time, but the publisher will not be liable for any delay, down time, or other failure of performance. However, the publisher will make all reasonable efforts to correct any performance problems brought to its attention.
Authorized users
For libraries and other institutional purchasers who have arranged online access using their own authentication methods via IP address recognition, access is restricted to authorized users of these institutions' secure library networks, on campus connected to the network directly, or off campus using the institution's proxy server and dial-in services.
Authorized users at academic institutions shall be identified by authorized Internet Protocol (IP) addresses. Client shall limit on-site access to current students, faculty, and staff who are primarily affiliated with the licensed campus, as well as walk-in users who are permitted access to the secure network from computer terminals within the library premises and who are making inconsequential use of the resources for their scholarly, research, educational, or personal use only. Remote access is limited to current students, faculty, and staff.
